Scholarship Reception includes Foundation Awards

The BCH Foundation has two special scholarships available and these are awarded at the annual Scholarship Reception. These endowed scholarships honor Betty Lue Hill and Pat Shoemaker.

The 2008 Betty Lue Hill Scholarship was awarded to Maryte Anilionis, RN, Cancer Care Center, who is pursuing her Master's in Nursing Education degree at Regis University. This award was presented to her by Leo Hill, Betty Lue's husband and Foundation Board of Trustees member, at the May 9^th Auxiliary Scholarship Reception. Ron Secrist, BCH Foundation President, displayed the plaque that is mounted in the Leo Hill Conference Room which honors each recipient of this award. Maryte receives this scholarship in addition to the Auxiliary scholarship she was awarded.

This special scholarship was established by Leo to honor his wife Betty Lue and to show deep appreciation for the care she received from BCH staff during her 9 year long journey with COPD. The scholarship is available to all current BCH RN's and RT's.

The 2008 Pat Shoemaker Scholarship was awarded to Michelle Cleminson, CT Rad Assistant, Imaging, who is in her senior year in the Associate of Occupational Studies – Radiology program at Pima Medical Institute. This is the first year for this scholarship award, and it was presented to Michelle at the May 9^th Auxiliary Scholarship Reception. Linda Shoemaker, Pat's mother and donor for the endowed scholarship, was out of town but sent her congratulations to Michelle for her achievement of this award. Ron Secrist, BCH Foundation President displayed the plaque that is mounted in the Leo Hill Conference Room which honors each recipient of this award. Michelle receives this scholarship in addition to the Auxiliary scholarship she was awarded.

This special scholarship was established by Linda to honor her mother, Pat and their shared passion for education. It was Pat's belief that one needs to be continually learning new things .This scholarship is available to all current BCH employees and high school seniors.
