Auxiliary fundraisers are sponsored by local businesses and individuals; donations are made to our raffles and auctions; and many businesses provide in-kind donations such as printing — all ensuring that profits from the events directly benefit the hospital.  Please take note of all these companies and remember to show your appreciation by giving them your business whenever possible.   Boulder Community Hospital has great support from our community.

Year End Giving

The BCH Foundation is a charitable organization.  As you consider your year-end giving to benefit your community, please consider a gift to BCH.  You may designate your gift to a particular service or program area or you may ask your gift to be directed to "wherever the need is greatest."  All gifts are acknowledged and highly appreciated.  During these difficult economic times, the needs of patients and their families are even greater.

Gifts of all amounts are valuable.  You can mail your gift to the BCH Foundation, P.O. Box 9019, Boulder, CO  80301-9019 or you may give on-line.  Go to www.bch.org and click on FOUNDATION.  Then follow the arrows to DONATE NOW.  Thanks for all you do to promote and support your community hospital!

FROM THE FOUNDATION

Our sincere thanks to the many volunteers

who have filled the numerous shifts to

wrap gifts at Liquor Mart during December.

Thanks also to Liquor Mart for giving us this

opportunity to introduce the BCH

Auxiliary to the community and raise

money for the hospital and scholarships.

There will undoubtedly be times when

volunteers are unable to make their shift.

If you are willing to serve as a substitute,

please contact Mary Zabel at 303-444-3225.

HOLIDAY GIFT WRAPPING

The Emeritus meeting was held at Foothills Hospital on October 28.

Dr. Thomas Matthew, cardiothoracic (heart and lung) surgeon, gave a presentation on  Port Access Valve Surgery — minimally invasive heart valve surgery.  Surgeons at BCH can now repair or replace heart valves through a small incision between the ribs.  This innovative new approach means less pain, faster recovery, no unsightly scar as required in open-chest surgery and shorter hospital stays.  For more information, go to the BCH website at www.bch.org and click on Resources.

Pam Elser, RN and ICU Educator, gave a presentation on strokes, including information about the different types of strokes, TIA’s or mini strokes and the importance of getting emergency medical care quickly if you think you or the person you are with has had a stroke.
