The BCH FASHION Show has been a part of my family’s November tradition for many years. I have very fond memories of attending this event throughout the years with my Mom, her volunteer friends and other family members. The BCH Fashion Show starts off our Gebhardt family holiday events — first the BCH Fashion Show, then Thanksgiving Day and then the CU-Nebraska football game. My Mom, Phyllis, has been a BCH volunteer since my family moved to Boulder in the middle seventies and for many years she was on the Fashion Show Committee. My son Tripp (now 25 years old) modeled in the Fashion Show when he was in elementary school back when the event was held at the Glenn Miller Ballroom at CU. I am the mother of one son and work at my family’s car dealerships as the HR Manager, so I am also the mother of 138!!!! I joined the Fashion Show Committee in 2006

The Annual Holiday Fashion Show and Luncheon hosted by the Auxiliary was again a huge success! Good times and successful shopping were had by all who watched the fashion show, had a wonderful lunch, walked the runway as a model, or volunteered in a myriad of ways. Thank you to all the numerous volunteers who worked over 6500 hours since February to organize every detail of the hugely successful Fashion Show and Luncheon. Thank you especially for the leadership of Anne Gebhardt O’Brien and Lynn DellaGuardia who co-chaired the event this year, and our charismatic emcees Dr. Lori Jensen and Dr. Nelson Trujillo. Early figures show a net profit of about $90,000, and these proceeds will provide funds for Rotational Angiography, which uses an X-ray camera that quickly rotates around the patient, reducing by nearly one-third both patient radiation exposure and the use of x-ray dye. In addition, because the camera collects images throughout its 120-degree rotation arc, it improves the ability to find just the right perspective to view each patient’s coronary arteries. This event has helped the Auxiliary continue our commitment to enhance patient care at Boulder Community Hospital – especially in the area of heart disease. Be sure to check the website www.bchauxiliary.org in coming weeks to see more details and photos.

Who are our 2008 Fashion Show Luncheon Co-chairs? |
|
after discussing it with my four brothers and two sisters who all teased me about becoming like Mom. We also decided as a family that it would be a great way to honor our mother and her favorite volunteer cause by donating a lease on a car each year to the Fashion Show to help raise money for the hospital. My father, Paul , has instilled in us the importance of giving back to the local community that supports your business. When asked to co-chair the 2008 event, I asked my Mom what she thought about it. She said, “Oh honey, I’ve been on that committee before—I really enjoyed it but it is a lot of work.” I asked my dad what he thought of me co-chairing the fashion show and he said, “This is one of the very best causes in our community and it is important to give back to the local community.” Well I took my dad’s advice — can you guess which one of my parent’s advice I will take in the future?! I am truly looking forward to the fashion show this year — our focus has been what I call the 4 F’s: Fashion, Finances, Friendship and most of all FUN!! I am most grateful to the many talented women who have chaired this event in previous years as they have laid such a great foundation to make this event a success year after year. I have had a fabulous experience being a member of the Fashion Show Committee. I have enjoyed getting to know the dedicated women on this committee and I have learned so much from them — and I have had so much fun!! Most especially — THANKS to Pat Dimond for her incredible support and endless help. Anne Gebhardt O’Brien
