Nineteen members of the BCH Auxiliary represented Boulder Community Hospital at the State Convention of the Colorado Association of Healthcare Auxilians and Volunteers held September 3, 4, and 5 at Beaver Run  in Breckenridge.  Attendees were: Nancy Brooks, Barbara Byrnes-Lenarcic, Beverly Campbell, Pat Dimond, Lyn Erickson, Sandra Foa, Gail Fox, Judy Heinze, Kathryn Hendrick, Margie Hutchings, Beverly Johnston, Carolyn Kruger, Jeannine Myers, Sharon Nothnagel, Mary Nutt, Jan Perkins, Ron Secrist, Barbara Urbaitus, and Suzanne Wiederrich.

The Convention Theme was “Make a Connection and Volunteer! – It’s a State of the Heart.”  Wednesday’s Keynote Presentation was LaDonna Gatlin who took us on a sentimental journey through songs.  Rob Ryder*, Centura Health Vice President of Learning and Leadership Development was the Keynote Speaker on Thursday.  Rob gave the audience tools to implement the win/win process for integrating hospital volunteers and staff.  Several breakout speakers were heard both days, including BCH Cardio-Pulmonary Director Darryl Brown, speaking on Trends in Women’s Heart Disease.  The convention ended with a Three Cornered Luncheon — a gathering of volunteers, volunteer directors, and hospital administrators—and then the installation of new Association Officers.  The newly elected and installed officers of CAHAV are:  President—Dar Larson, Memorial Health Systems, Colorado Springs; President-Elect—Lee Stewart, McKee Medical Center, Loveland; VP-Convention—Donna Paladino, St. Anthony Central, Lakewood; VP-Education—Betsy Plante, Memorial Health Systems, Colorado Springs; Secretary—Marge Smith,  Heart of the Rockies, Buena Vista;  Treasurer—Margaret Faciszewski, St. Joseph Hospital, Aurora; Treasurer-Elect—Rick Randall, St. Francis Medical Center, Colorado Springs.
